Objectives (course unit)

The student is able to
- name and locate the main organs and structures of immune system
- determine and use immunological terms
- describe the mechanisms of innate and acquired immunity
- explain the differentiation process and main functions of immunological cells
- describe the structure of an antibody and the principle of antigen-antibody reaction
- determine and describe the most common immunological defects
- explain the basic factors involved with the origin of diseases
- explain the most common changes caused by diseases in the organ system
- explain the origin and development of inflammatory reactions
- describe phenomena related to inflammations, classification of inflammations and inflammatory cells
- explain the changes in blood vessels and circulatory disorders
- explain the classification and differentiation of neoplasms
- apply the knowledge in the professional studies in different fields of bioanalytical science

The student is able to list the main organs of the immune system . The student is able to define the major concepts related to immunology. Students are able to explain what is meant by the innate and aqcuired immunity, and is familiar with their function on the basic level. The student can list immune system cell types, and knows the basics of their differentiation, and function . Students are able to describe the basic structure of antibodies. The student is able to describe the conditions or diseases in which the immune system is disturbed. The student is able to list the key factors influencing the origin of diseases and to describe the most common changes caused by diseases of the body. The student has a basic knowledge of the inflammatory reaction and classification of infections, vascular disease classification, as well as the emergence of neoplastic diseases and classification of tumors.

The student can name and locate the main organs of the immune system . Students are able to identify and use the most common concepts of immunology. The student is able to describe the human innate and aqcuired immunity. Students are able to explain the differentiation and the main tasks of the immune system cells. The student is able to describe the structure and function of antibodies. The student is able to name the events or diseases in which the immune system is disturbed. Students can explain key factors influencing the origin of diseases and to describe the changes caused by diseases of the body. Students are able to explain the genesis and progression of inflammatory reaction , to describe the phenomena related to inflammation , the calssification of inflammation and inflammatory cells , to explain the changes in blood vessels and circulatory disorders , as well as the classification and differentiation of tumors

The student knows the most important organs of the immune system, their structure and function in immunological defense. Students are able to define and use concepts related to immunology. He is able to comprehensively describe the function of human innate and aqcuired immunity. Students are able to explain the differentiation and immune cell functions. Students are able to explain the structure and function of antibodies. The student can name and define the conditions or diseases in which the immune system is disturbed, and explain the causes and mechanisms of disorders. Students are able to explain the factors affecting the onset of disease, to describe the phenomena related to inflammation, classification of inflammation and inflammatory cells, to explain the changes in blood vessels and circulatory disorders, as well as the classification and differentiation of tumors. Students have aqcuired a clear overall picture of the human immune system and the emergence of diseases and are able to apply their knowledge in biomedical laboratory in different areas.
