Social and Health Care Services in Finland (3op)

Osaamistavoitteet (Opintojakso)

The student
- knows the history, structure, principles, service deliveries and basic legislation of the social-, health- and rehabilitation systems;
- knows in general the practices of the social and health care professions;
- knows the actual challenges of the social-, health- and rehabilitation systems

Sisältö (Opintojakso)

- the ideology of welfare and its development;
- guiding principles of the central legislation;
- official control of the professions of social and health care;
- public politics;
- the structure and options of the service system (public, private and third sector);
- the basic concepts and questions of the economy;
- the challenges of service integration, ageing, client-focus, technology, digitalisation, medicalisation, multi-culturalism and economics

Aika ja paikka

There will be contact lessons, studying in the virtual learning environment and part of the course will be in cooperation with students from THUAS during the International week at Tamk in October 2018.

Tenttien ja uusintatenttien ajankohdat

There will be no final exam, evaluation is based on two presentations, active participation and online tasks.

Active participation in all given assignments.
Team presentations (planning the content and the presentation), 1-5, 50%
Team presentations during the International week (week 41), 1-5, 50%
Virtual learning environment in Tabula: participation in discussions and assignments, pass/fail

Opiskelumuodot ja opetusmenetelmät

The course information will be updated before the orientation lecture.
Contact teaching and learning combined with virtual lerning in Tabula study environment.
Team work (group work, presentation), both in virtual learning environment and in contact learning classes during designated times. All the tasks are compulsory.
Independent study and final project.
The course is 3 ECTS = 81 hours, which is combined with contact learning classes, virtual studying and learning and independent study.
The compulsory orientation lesson will be on the 31st of August 2018 at 12.30-14.00

Oppimateriaalit

The students will actively participate in searching appropriate course material for self-study and for team work presentations and project work.

Opiskelijan ajankäyttö ja kuormitus

The course is 3 ECTS, 81 hours, including contact lessons, virtual learning environment studies and independent studies.

Sisällön jaksotus

Compalsory orientation meeting 31st of August 2018.
Team work, group work, virtual learning and independent study. The team presentations during the designated lessons (more information in the orientation meeting).
There may be changes in the planned schedule during the course.

There are no alternative choices in English for Degree Programme in Nursing students.

Kansainvälisyys

Part of the course will be in cooperation with THUAS nursing students from The Hague.

The student does not achieve the criteria given for satisfactory evaluation.
The student has not achieved the goals for the course, has not participated in the team work, presentation situations or virtual lerning discussions and assignments.

The student recognises only some concepts regarding social and health care services. The student does not have an adequate understanding of Finland's social and health care services.
Team work and participation have been only satisfactory, assignments and presentations have included only a few references.
The student has not followed the given schedule.

Arviointikriteerit - hyvä (3-4) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

The student recognises and understands many concepts regarding social and health care services. The student has a good understanding of Finland's social and health care services.
Team work and participation has been active, assignments and presentations have included good and appropriate references and information. The student has followed the given schedule.

Arviointikriteerit - kiitettävä (5) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

The student has very good understanding of different concepts regarding social and health care services. The student has very good understanding of Finland's social and health care services, and ability to show analytical thinking.
Team work and participation has been very active, assignments and presentations have included very good and appropriate references and information. The student has followed the given schedule.
