Written exam 4.10.
Retakes:
Link to register to retake exam will be sent via email.
The retakes in the Exam "terrarium". (the dates may change, more information in the orientation lecture)
1st retake 1.11.-16.11.
2nd retake 7.12.-21.12.
If the student is not happy with the exam result, the course retake to upgrade the grade is possible during weeks 14-15/2019.

Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet

The written exam has two parts: aseptics and microbiology. To pass the exam the student should successfully have answered 70% of the answers correctly. The exam will be graded 0-5.

Orientation lecture to the course is compulsory, 12.9.2018 9.15-10.00.

Opiskelijan ajankäyttö ja kuormitus

The course has two parts, aseptics and microbiology. Contact teaching in total 12-16 hours and a written exam 2 hours, independent study for 2 ECTS in total 54 hours of student's work.
Orientation lecture to the course is compulsory, 12.9.2018 9.15-10.00.

Contents of the course:
- the most common/essential microbes and the ways of transmission and spreading
- basic concepts of the aseptic working
- aseptic working manner:
- personal hygiene in health care environment
- hand hygiene in health care environment
- protective equipment and clothing
- the most common precautions in infection control
- isolation protocols
- hospital acquired infections
- prevention of the hospital acquired infections

The student does not know the basics of infection control and prevention. The student does not recognise the most common microbes linked to health, and the ways/methods of spreading or preventing them.
The understanding and knowledge of the aseptic working manner principles are inadequate.

Arviointikriteerit - tyydyttävä (1-2) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

The student knows the basics of infection control and prevention. The student recognises the most common microbes linked to health, and the ways/methods of spreading or preventing them.
The understanding and knowledge of the aseptic working manner principles are sufficient.

Arviointikriteerit - hyvä (3-4) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

The student has a good understanding of the basics of infection control and prevention. The student knows the most common microbes linked to health, and understands the importance of the prevention to maintain health.
The understanding and knowledge of the aseptic working manner principles are good, and the student is able to apply and justify the knowledge into the practice.

Arviointikriteerit - kiitettävä (5) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

The student has very good understanding of the basics of infection control and prevention within the health care context. The student knows the microbes linked to health, and understands the importance of the prevention to maintain health.
The understanding and knowledge of the aseptic working manner principles are very good, and the student is able to apply and justify the knowledge into the practice, using evidence-based nursing principles. The student has good skills to evaluate and justify their actions within the infection control in health care.
