Objectives (course unit)
After completing this course student has basic knowledge on different renewable energy production methods and sources of renewable energy. Different energy production methods and types of renewable energy are introduced to that extent that student is able to evaluate and assess their feasibility in dfferent situations.

Renewable energy production technologies and implementations, processes, economy and potential
Prerequisites (course unit)
The course is not recommended for first or second year students. Before taking this course, you should have completed all of your basic studies, especially the basic studies in mathematics, physics and chemistry. In addition, it is recommended that you have completed a basic course in environmental technology, for example 5E00BF93 Basic in Environmental Technology and Management or similar.

Teaching methods
The energy course is a lecture series given by several teachers representing different fields. Teaching methods include: lectures, assignments, discussions, pair/group seminars and portfolio.
Learning materials
All course materials are informed in the course's Tabula page. The study materials include books, articles, and internet sources. The course will be lectured by different teachers who will also distribute their own materials during the lectures.

Student workload
Contact lessons in this course some 40+hours. Additional seminar work with own group 15-20 hours and one excursion, which takes app. one working day.
Completion alternatives
There are no alternative ways to complete this course. Participation to the lectures is strongly recommended. In the case of seminars and discussions, participation is mandatory. Active participation in group works is mandatory in order to pass the course.

Motivation to participate in the lectures and assignments is normal. All assignments are returned and done as instructed. Achieved competence is sufficient, but narrow. Knowledge and understanding of the core concepts introduced during the course. Basic theoretical knowledge and understanding in using renewable energy and basic processes.

Motivation to participate in the lectures and assignments is good, some absences are possible. Achieved competence is structured and applied. Fluent knowledge and understanding of the core concepts and phenomena introduced during the course. Sufficient skills and theoretical knowledge of the basic processes and types of renewable energy. Motivation and interest towards the subject expressed clearly. All assignments have been done carefully and as instructed, and they have been returned by the end of the course.

Motivation to participate in the lectures and assignments is good. Active participation in the assignments. Achieved competence is wide, creative and developing.
