Osaamistavoitteet (Opintojakso)

After successful completion of the course students
- are able to understand and use short and simply-structured Finnish expressions that concern some of the most common matters and situations related to everyday life (food and menu, location and moving, working, asking and telling a way, commanding and requesting…)
- are able to describe some of the most important things about themselves, their families and the immediate surroundings, and to understand descriptions of such topics.

- pronunciation exercises
- conversational and drama exercises
- listening comprehension exercises
- reading comprehension exercises
- written exercises.

Aika ja paikka

Periods 3 & 4 on Tuesdays at 10.15 - 11.45 in the class room B6-30.

Tenttien ja uusintatenttien ajankohdat

Written test 24.4. and oral test in the first week of May.

Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet

Continuous assessment based on classwork (activity, presence, completed exercises). To pass the course minimum attendance 80 % is required.
Final exam has two parts:
A Written test (listening comprehension + reading comprehension + writing + structure tasks) = 60 % of the course grade
B Oral test in small groups = 40 % of the course grade
Very good class activity or excellently completed learning diary may improve the course grade (according to the final exam result).

More absences than 20 % and/or uncompleted exercises or failed final exam.

A student has completed all the assignments acceptably, attended contact lessons at least 80 % and passed the final exam with a grade less than 2,5.

A student has an active attitude towards studying Finnish language and culture showing that by completing written tasks according to the schedule and avoiding to speak English but expressing herself/himself in Finnish although it wouldn't be correct at all.

In addition before mentioned a student has a positive and active attitude towards learning language and she/he is genuinely interested in Finnish culture and brings it up by expressing her/his findings about linguistic and cultural matters. She/he is willing to help others and shows to have done extra work for learning Finnish.
