Objectives (course unit)
The student is able to
- explain the principles and purposes of field buses
- describe the basic concepts of information transfer at a physical and logical level using the correct terminology
- analyse the communication principles of a network and identify disturbances
- apply methods of information transfer to building automation
- search independently for information in professional literature
- identify field bus standards and solutions used in buildings and explain their working principles
- form an understanding of network traffic on field buses, ways of applying them in practice
- relate basic information about certain bus systems and the tools needed to use them.
Content (course unit)
Network topologies, effective data transfer rates and transfer mechanisms. Protocols and their functions. Basics of connectivity. Principles of bus systems in building automation, their possibilities and features. Exercises with a programming tool.
