Osaamistavoitteet (Opintojakso)

In this course, the participants will gain an understanding of the key concepts of financial management, starting with the principles of obligatory financial accounting. Adopting a generic perspective based on the business financial reports, participants will then move on to examine the specific financial management methods used in their own educational context. The participants do not require any prior knowledge of financial accounting or management.
 
After completing the course, the participants will be able to: 
 
- understand the role and importance of accounting and finance 
- apply generic principles in financial and management accounting 
- utilize typical financial accounting concepts
- measure and compare options from a financial point of view 
- prepare managerial financial calculations 
- read and analyze financial reports  
- evaluate investments based on financial outcome  
- apply finance driven managerial decisions

The evaluation is based on dedicated assignments, reports. The assignments will be informed during the course as there are few options to be selected. The reports are to be selected according personal field of interests:

This on-line includes the following learning methods
- Weekly lectures as on-line
- Independent reading
- Exercises based on weekly themes
- Reports, which are the base for course score

The course is 5 credits, 127h of studying.

Sisällön jaksotus

The course starts with intensive week 36, with intro lecturing. The on-line sessions starts on week 43 followed by weekly materials, the last week with materials is week 49. Still, there are reports to be finalized by 31st January 2018.

Grade 1-2: Mimimum level - report done within set deadline, low efforts with short outcome, low level of information.

Grades 3-4: Relevant level of analysis, conceptual thinking and structured approach.

Arviointikriteerit - kiitettävä (5) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

Grade 5: High level of analysis with personal touch (own experiences, opinions, development ideas, pros-cons, to be improved etc). Reports with relevant information and outcome.
