System Engineering and Project Management (5 op)

Osaamistavoitteet (Opintojakso)

After completing this course student understands typical ict project phases: requirements analysis, both architecture and detailed design, and implementation. Modern project methodologies are handled.

Course covers topics mentioned above. Aim is to show current mainstream methodologies and techniques in the area of ict projects.

Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet

Mr. Hietalahti will grade half of the course regarding system engineering and Mr. Kunnari will be grading the project management part. Both have individual assignments upon which grades will be decided. Final grade will be average grade of the two parts.

Total of six lectures plus home assigments

Sisällön jaksotus

3 lectures will be about system engineering, and three lectures regarding project management.
Project management lectures will roughly be about:
First going thru traditional project management methodologies. Second, we will cover agile methods and project management specifics in ICT projects. Third lecture will be mostly discussion between the group about our own experiences and lessons learned.

For system engineering part following topics will be handled (each in one lecturing session):
1. System requirements
2. Architecture and detailed planning
3. Implementation and SW testing.
