On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. understand and use Finnish language in simple everyday situations
2. recognise the grammatical elements in Finnish words
3. apply grammatical structures in new situations
4. understand Finnish culture and way of life and studying

Sisältö (Opintojakso)

- pronunciation
- basic grammar
- day-to-day language: greeting, introduction, shopping, asking the way
- Finnish food, habits, education system, religion

Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet

Passed/failed (grading scale 0 - 5 if it is needed). Continuous assessment based on classwork (activity, presence, completed exercises), a completed drama exercise and passed final exam. To pass the course 80 % attendance is required.

Arviointikriteerit - tyydyttävä (1-2) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

Minimum attendance 80 % and all exercises completed. Passed both a drama exercise and a final written exam. A student has considerable difficulties with expressing herself/himself, e.g. pronunciation, vocabulary, structures.

Arviointikriteerit - hyvä (3-4) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

Minimum attendance 80 % and all exercises completed. Passed both a drama exercise and a final written exam. A student is active and able to express herself/himself understandably although there are defectiveness and deficiency in her/his speech/texts.

Arviointikriteerit - kiitettävä (5) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

Minimum attendance 80 % and all exercises completed. Passed both a drama exercise and a final written exam. A student both speaks and writes expressing herself/himself understandably and rather faultlessly. She/he is active and eager to learn more.

To pass the course the minimum attendance 80 % is required as well as a completed drama exercise and a passed exam.
