Objectives (course unit)

The student is able to work in a networked, global world. Student is able to recognize the dynamics and conditions of business and work. The student knows different means of profiling her/himself on the global professional and work in networks. Student is able to use social and open media in a professional way in media production.

Content (course unit)

Practical exercises with social media. Economy, society and culture in the networked world. Media convergence. Open access, open media, funding models. Established and new revenue models. Sustainable development.

Assessment criteria
Active participation: attending the contact meetings, activity with network assignments, creative group work and activity as member of the team.

Teaching methods

Contact meetings, group work, international conferences and field trip. Reporting the activities ("learning diary").

Student workload

Contact meetings 30 hours (3-5 days), group work and individual work with networked international groups 40 hours, conferences, study trip and reports 40-60 hours.
Report, 10 hours. Deadline 5.12.

The Music Production group will take part to the Music&Media fair as well as our own international week programme.

They also work with international teams during the course.

Further information

Our second school year begins with an intensive Seili- week, which is part of the Networked media culture (5 cr) course.
The six-day workshop is situated in the unique Turku archipelago environment of the island of Seili (http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seili).
All participating students can enjoy free full board and no travel costs and legendary Seili Baltic Sea Film Festival produced by you based on your projects done during the week.
Photography, drawing, moving image, animation and music are the main tools we are working on, tutored by TAMK Mediapolis teachers Juha Suonpää, Tiiu Baldwin and Tuomo Joronen
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Departure is on Sunday 23.8. at 8:30 am in front of the Mediapolis back door entrance. Please be ready there already at 8.00, so we had time to load all the goods. Those one's who come later will be left out of the bus, because we need to be in time Nauvo ferry boat.
Return from our trip is Friday 28.8. We are at the Mediapolis latest 7 pm.
WHAT DO YOU NEED:
Each of those participating must be involved at least the following equipment:
- Bottom sheet, pillow sheet and duvet cover for your bed (sleeping bag not allowed), and your own towel.
- Hat, rubber boots, and rainwear.
- Mosquite oil for tics (the strongest you can get).
- Head lamp/torch for your personal use.
- Your own laptop, video/still camera, recording gadgets and other creative instruments you feel you might need to do your work.
- Instruments of which you can make sounds:).
- Other gear you may need for your video/art project:)
