Osaamistavoitteet (Opintojakso)

This course is considering the sustainability on tourism and tourism business perspective. Principles and contents of sustainability and sustainable development and thinking are studied. Economic, socio-cultural and environmental impacts of tourism are studied in order to understand the effects of the industry in local and global scale.

After completing the course, the students will be able to:

Understand sustainability as an important part of tourism business.
Know the principles of sustainable development and the actions and monitoring concerning sustainability in tourism business.
Know the environmental, economical and socio-cultural impacts of tourism and understand their importance in tourism planning and developing.

Why is sustainable thinking in tourism business needed?
Why do we have to realize the impacts of tourism?

Meetings are important to attend in order to pass the course! Course is much of a virtual, but contains also team working and supervising is available during the course. Check timetable in Tabula!

Arviointikriteerit - hylätty (0) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

Student does not understand concepts of sustainability and its' relation to tourism. Student is not able to write analytic texts with references on given topics and aspects. Tasks are not followed, not returned or returned very late.

Arviointikriteerit - tyydyttävä (1-2) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

Student is only partly able to understand concepts of sustanability. Relations to tourism are identified to a small extent. Student has major problems in writing analytic academic text and in applying refrences there.

Arviointikriteerit - hyvä (3-4) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

Student is mainly understanding the concepts in sustainability. He/she can identify relations to tourism. Student is able to find example cases and analyze them by theory of sustainability. Only minor mistakes in academic text writing, applying references.

Arviointikriteerit - kiitettävä (5) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)

Student is understanding the concepts of sustainability to a great extent and is fluently discussing and analyzing the ideas in academic text. He/she is able to find example cases and also present own ideas and opinions. There are no mistakes in academic writing with references. Several references are applied and discussed.
