Objectives (course unit)
On this course students will learn about the professional business communication in working life environment. European Framework of Reference for Languages B2 level.
After completing the course students will be able to
- tell about their personality, education, work experience, tasks and duties at work by using professional English
- meet customers’ needs when servicing the customer base and communicating with interest groups
- follow and participate in the development of their field by using different ways of communication.

What can the student communicate on his/her competence and working life environment in the target language?
What kind of qualifications does the student need to succeed in multicultural customer-based interaction in the target language?
How can the student develop his/her competence and acquire business-related information in the target language?

Eurooppalaisen taitotasoasteikon B2-taitotaso.
Exam schedules
The Final exam takes place at the last session. Resit dates can be negotiated or through TAMK's exam dates.
Evaluation methods and criteria
Professional English for BBA students covers written and oral communication skills for BBA students. Evaluation is based on 0-5 grading scale where, 0 is fail and 5 is excellent. Evaluation is based on:
1. Written Exams
2. Oral presentation and group discussions
3. Active class participation and completed assignments and essays.
Teaching methods
Lectures, class activities, mini-seminars, collaborative online activities. Personal efforts and self-study.

Student workload
Students will have to devote extra time into multicultural research assignments.
Content scheduling
Written skills include include essay writing, job application documents, emails etc.
Oral skills include presentation, small talk skills and meeting/negotiation skills
International connections
Inter-cultural communication project may be started with partner countries.

- are able to use English moderately both in professional and personal contexts.
- are able to obtain information only from a few sources and read basic professional literature.
- master only some professional terms and phrases.
- distinguish only some of the differences between spoken and written language as well as various cultures and have difficulties in adapting them.
- know how to outline the essentials of a text and how to write structured text.

- are able to use English fairly well both in professional and personal contexts.
- are able to obtain information from a fairly good selection of sources and read advanced professional literature.
