Objectives (course unit)

The student:
-knows how to carry out harvesting work plans
-knows how to use GIS in harvesting and in timber transport
-knows the main timber storage methods and their impact on raw material quality and the environment
-knows the equipment used in timber harvesting and timber transport and its applicability to different situations
-knows the principles of bucking control and knows how to interpret control files
-knows the forms and means of timber transport, as well as their feasibility to forest sector transport
-is familiar with the principles of transport control systems, and is able to make transport orders
-knows how to make resource calculations.

Content (course unit)

Making work program for harvesting, harvesting and transportation equipment, information systems of forest machines, creating bucking files, using GIS, timber storage methods, information systems in controlling harvesting and transport, means of transport, the importance of forest roads and their maintenance, resource planning. Forest machine simulator exercises.
