Objectives (course unit)
The student
-develops and improves his/her clinical competence;
-is able to carry out safe pharmacotherapy under supervision;
-is trained in patient observation, and related decision making;
-shows responsibility and acts according to ethical principles, respecting patients' cultural background;
-is aware of the significance of health promotion in patient care;
-is trained in diverse methods of patient education;
-is able to make decisions in different phases of the nursing process;
-is able to work as a team member and is trained in interdisciplinary collaboration.

-medical-surgical or gynaecological wards 7 weeks
-simulation and reflection at school 1 cr

The possible material given by teacher, orientation material about the clinical placements, the orientation handbook for students (in Finnish) in Tabula.
Student workload
Part 1. Clinical practice. The total working hours for the student are 269 hours (including orientation, reflection and evaluation).
Part 2. Simulation. The total working hours for the student are 27 hours, contact studies/teaching 12 hours, independent work 15 hours.
