After completing this course student:
- knows the classes of inorganic and organic pollutants and their fate in the environment
- understands the relationship between chemical and biological environment
- can evaluate and anlyse the ecotoxicological risks and consequences to the environment
- understands REACH and can implement it in practise
- knows the basic concepts and research methods in ecotoxicology and can use them in practise

Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet
To pass the course a student needs to be present in minimum on Introduction lecture on 2nd September, 2015 and on laboratory sessions, report the lab work and pass the exam. It is extrememly important to participate on the Introduction lecture (See: TAMK Degree Regulations).
Assessment is based on activity (being present on lectures and participating the discussion), completing excercises given, writing laboratory reports and passing the exam.

Presence on the Introduction session during the week 36 is mandatory, as well as the other mandatory presence demands mentioned. The course will last for the first period and possibly until 22nd of October.

The required exercises, seminars and groupworks are done , in co-operation with others by the deadline. The exam has been passed.
A student knows to participate the discussion and group work and to present the seminar work.
The achieved knowledge is sufficient but narrow in knowing classes of inorganic and organic pollutants and their fate in the environment and in understanding the relationship between chemical and biological environment.
A student is familiar with the basic concepts, basic theoretical knowledge and research methods in ecotoxicology. Student is familiar with exotoxicological testing methods and is able to evaluate and analyse the ecotoxicological risks and consequences to some extent.
A student knows REACH legislation.
A student knows basic groupworking skills and is able to produce a group work and lab work report according to instructions, although referring to sources is incomplete, the dicussion and conclusions are inadquated showing narrow competence achieved., in co-operation with others by the deadline.
A student knows to participate the discussion and to present the seminar work.
Arviointikriteerit - hyvä (3-4) (Ei käytössä, kts Opintojakson Arviointikriteerit ylempänä)
The required exercises, seminars and groupworks are dome and the exam has been passed. A student knows to participate the discussion and group work regularly and to present the seminar work in a good quality and manner.
The achieved competense is structured and a student could apply the knowledge in known situations.
A student knows classes of inorganic and organic pollutants and their fate in the environment and understands the relationship between chemical and biological environment.
A student knows and understands the basic concepts and phenomena in ecotoxicology, and knows exotoxicological testing methods and is able to evaluate and analyse the ecotoxicological risks and consequences to the environment based on them in known situations.
A student knows REACH well.
A student knows groupworking skills and is able to produce a group work and lab work report according to instructions, referring to sources, in co-operation with others by the deadline.

The required exercises, seminars and groupworks are done in co-operation with others by the deadline. The exam has been passed.
A student knows to participate the discussion with relevant arguments and in a constructive manner and to present the seminar work excellent in quality and presentation.
The achieved competence is wide and student is able to apply thetheory in known and new situations. Student has fluent knowledge and understanding the concepts and phenomena related to classes of inorganic and organic pollutants and their fate in the environment. Student understands the relationship between chemical and biological environment very well and is able to apply the knowledge and conclude based on that.
A student knows the basic concepts and research methods in ecotoxicology, and knows how to apply them in exotoxicological testing and is able to evaluate and analyse the ecotoxicological risks and consequences to the environment based on them.
A student knows REACH well and is able to apply it in practise.
A student knows groupworking skills and is able to produce a good quality group work report and lab work report according to instructions, relying on background information collected, referring to relevant sources, discussing and concluding adequately and based on literature, presenting clear conclusions . Reports and seminars have been delivered timely in co-operation with others by the deadline.
The work shows deep understanding of the concepts and student has sufficient skills to correctly apply the theoretical knowledge.
