Objective of course:
The student
- is able to make ethically sound decisions in the field of nursing
- is able to implement holistic care among children and adolescents
- masters the paediatric nursing of chronically or handicapped children, adolescents and families
-masters the paediatric nursing of children, adolescents and families that have become acutely ill or are in need of intensive care
-masters the nursing interventions needed in paediatric nursing in hospital and at home
-can support the growth and development of children and adolescents of different ages
-masters the special issues concerning management of medication to children
-is able to educate and instruct children, adolescents and families in nursing
-is able to work as named nurse in paediatric nursing with the supervisor
-understands special issues in paediatrics and other sciences
-gains abilities for facing the death of children
Course contents:
-philosophical and ethical basics of paediatric nursing
-special issues in paediatric nursing
-chronically ill children/adolescents
-disabled children/adolescents
-acutely ill children/adolescents
-intensive care of newborns, children and adolescents
- children/adolescents in surgery
- paediatric and other scientific issues
- responsibility in paediatric nursing and continuous development
Teaching methods:
lectures, tutorials, study visits, seminars, independent learning, study groups, clinical training
Assessment methods:
-written and practical exams, self and peer evaluation, teacher´s evaluation, mentor´s evaluation
Prerequisites:
- professional studies in nursing must be completed
