Objectives of the course:
Students become aware of future challenges con-nected with safeguarding the well being of the age-ing population. Students are able to use their skills in encountering and assisting the elderly and their next-of-kin during the physical, psychological and social aging process. Students are capable of working in a multiprofessional team in different health care settings for senior citizens. Students are capable of adapting their theoretical knowledge in elderly care, gerontology, geriatrics and pharma-cology during their supervised clinical training.

Ethical competence
Students recognize the older adult's right to self-determination. They recognize their professional abilities, responsibilities, and limitations.
Students act as an advocate in situations where an individual may be vulnerable
Competence in health promotion
Students recognize and act upon opportunities to promote the health and well-being of the older adult and their relatives.
Clinical competence
Students demonstrate problem-solving and deci-sion making skills. They demonstrate sound knowledge and skills in prevention of infections, and problems related to ageing. They demonstrate flexibility in co-operation with the multiprofessional group. Students demonstrate co-ordination of holis-tic care of the older adults. Students demonstrate professional growth and they are able to reflect by using their previous experiences and knowledge
