Objective of course
Students know the unique significance of the changes caused by internal diseases for adult pa-tients and their families. They gain experience in helping and supporting individuals and their next-of-kin in order to promote health and well being. Students are able to observe vital functions, to carry out pharmacological treatments and to man-age patient's individual care. During the course students enforce their skills to educate, guide and support the patient in developing self care skills. Students know the basics of physiotherapy and occupational therapy in the nursing of medical pa-tients. Students are capable of adapting their knowledge in nursing during their supervised clini-cal training.

Health promotion and prevention of circulatory problems, patient education on risk factors
Management of patients with circulatory problems Management of patients with diabetes; type 1, type 2 and metabolic syndrome
Management of patients with cerebral vascular accident
Pharmacological treatment and rehabilitation
G212B-8 Internal Medicine and Pharmacology, 2 ECTS
Cardiovascular problems and their drug treatment
Respiratory disorders and their drug treatment
Neurological disorders and their drug treatment
Renal and urinary-tract disorders and their drug treatment
Musculoskeletal and joint diseases and their drug treatment
Infections and their drug treatment
Pain and analgesics
Palliative care and its drug treatment
G212C-8 Supervised clinical training, 8 ECTS
Students familiarize themselves with the nature of medical nursing. They form a comprehensive idea of nursing process in medical nursing situations.
Students are aware of the most important func-tional disorders caused by medical diseases and of the problems they cause the adult patient. They are aware of clinical nursing methods, master the essential ones and are able to apply them individu-ally in medical nursing. Students are able to enter into a constructive nursing relationship with a pa-tient. They acquire skills to support the patient in self-care. They apply nursing principles in the se-lection and use of different nursing methods.
Students master the main communicative and in-teractive skills required of a member of nursing community.
