Objectives

Opiskelija oppii tiedonhankinnan käsitteistöä, periaatteita ja strategioita, ja hän ymmärtää tiedonhankinnan prosessin eri vaiheet. Hän oppii tuntemaan erilaisia hakumenetelmiä sekä tietokantoja ja hakupalveluja. Tiedonhakuharjoituksia suorittamalla opiskelija saa valmiuksia käyttää erilaisia tietokantoja ja hakupalveluja käytännössä. Opiskelija kykenee soveltamaan opintojaksolla läpikäytyjä asioita itsenäisessä tiedonhankinnassaan. Hän osaa löytää tiedontarpeensa mukaista lähdeaineistoa tietokantoja ja hakupalveluja käyttäen sekä valikoida aineistoa kriittisesti arvioiden.

Objective of course
Students learn the concepts, principles and strategies of information search and they understand the different phases of the information search process. Students become familiar with different search methods, databases and search services. Independent information search assignments train the students to use diverse databases and search services in practice. Students are able to apply the taught skills in their independent information search. Students learn to find sources which are relevant for their purposes by using databases and search services and they learn to evaluate the sources critically.
