Objectives

After completing the course, the student is able to
• exploiting competence-based knowledge in ethical questions relating to educating the customer and supporting their self-care
• recognising the potential the service counselling in social and health care
• exploiting services offered by actors, organisations and communities in the third sector for counselling of the customer in her/his self-care
• exploiting up-to-date research results in education and support of the customer's self-care
• applying competence-based care recommendations in education of individuals and groups
• applying versatile methods for education and support self-care
• developing practices and methods for educating and supporting self-care

• ethics in education and support of customer's self-care
• methods of education and support of self-care
• peer support and the role of the third sector
• service counselling in support of self-care

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student
• is able to search for information on the subject and is able to use national and international sources
• is able to apply the collected information at a descriptive level when reviewing current practices and means of action
• does not display a critical evaluation of the topic

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student
• is able to seek evidence-based knowledge from both national and international sources, and is able evaluate the sources critically
• is able to construct both analyses and syntheses of the topic
• is able to use the acquired knowledge in critical evaluation and development of current practices

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
• is able to retrieve evidence-based knowledge from a number of national and international sources of information, critically evaluate the studies and synthesise the collected data
• shows a profound command of the subject
• is able to evaluate current practices critically and is able to create new evidence-based practices
