Objectives

Pathology 1 credit
The student is able to
- explain the basic factors that affect the onset of diseases
- explain the most common changes caused by diseases in the organ system
- explain the origin and development of inflammatory reactions
- describe phenomena related to inflammations, classification of inflammations and inflammatory cells
- explain the changes in blood vessels and circulatory disorders
- explain the classification and differentiation of neoplasms

Clinical Medicine 2 credits
The student is able to
-know factors that affect the onset of the most common diseases
-know the most common diseases and their symptoms and the basic principles of preventing and treating these diseases
-know laboratory diagnostics of the most common diseases and the meaning of laboratory results in treating the patient

Factors affecting the onset of diseases and changes caused by diseases in human body
Most common diseases in the different fields of medicine and their laboratory diagnostics (allergies, cancers, infections, autoimmune and pulmonary diseases, gastroenterology, cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology, and neurology)

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student is able to list the key factors affecting the onset of diseases and to describe the most common changes caused by diseases of the body. The student has a basic knowledge of the inflammatory reaction and classification of infections, vascular disease classification, as well as the emergence of neoplastic diseases and classification of tumors. The student is able to name the most common diseases in different fields of medicine and knows the basics of their laboratory diagnostics.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student can explain key factors affecting the onset of diseases and describe the changes caused by diseases of the body. The student is able to explain the genesis and progression of inflammatory reaction, to describe the phenomena related to inflammation, the classification of inflammation and inflammatory cells, to explain the changes in blood vessels and circulatory disorders, as well as the classification and differentiation of tumors. The student can describe the most common diseases in different fields of medicine and knows their laboratory diagnostics.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to explain the factors affecting the onset of diseases, to describe the phenomena related to inflammation, classification of inflammation and inflammatory cells, to explain the changes in blood vessels and circulatory disorders, as well as the classification and differentiation of tumors. The student has acquired a clear overall picture of the emergence of diseases and he/she is able to apply the knowledge in different fields of biomedical laboratory science. The student has a wide range of knowledge of the most common diseases in various fields of medicine and is able to describe in detail their laboratory diagnostics.
