Objectives

-is able to apply medical knowledge in emergency care
-knows the mechanisms of different heart diseases, examinations and treatments
-is able to interpret abnormalities in the electrocardiogram (ECG) as the basis for a preliminary diagnosis in emergency care for adults and children -recognises the gynaecological and obstetric emergencies
-is able to assist in a prehospital child delivery
-is able to take care of pediatric patients requiring intensive care

Prerequisites

At the beginning of Advanced Level Emergency Care studies, the student must have completed 140 credits of studies. These should include studies in Anatomy and Physiology, The Basic Level Emergency Care skills and Supervised Clinical Trainings 1-5.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

-knows the role of medical knowledge in emergency care
-knows the mechanisms of different heart diseases, examinations and treatments
-is able to interpret most common abnormalities in the electrocardiogram (ECG) as the basis for a preliminary diagnosis in emergency care for adults and children
-knows the most common gynaecological and obstetric emergencies
-knows the protocol of prehospital child delivery
-knows the basic principles of care of pediatric patients requiring intensive care

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

-understands the role of medical knowledge in emergency care
-understands the mechanisms of different heart diseases, examinations and treatments
-is able to interpret abnormalities in the electrocardiogram (ECG) as the basis for a preliminary diagnosis in emergency care for adults and children
-recognises the gynaecological and obstetric emergencies and is able to take care of these patients
-is able to assist in a prehospital child delivery
-is able to take care of pediatric patients requiring intensive care

-understands and is able to apply medical knowledge in emergency care
-understands deeply the mechanisms of different heart diseases, examinations and treatments
-is able to interpret abnormalities in the electrocardiogram (ECG) as the basis for a preliminary diagnosis in emergency care for adults and children
-recognises the gynaecological and obstetric emergencies and is able to take care of these patients
-is able to assist in a prehospital child delivery and is able to take care of patients with irregular delivery
-is able to take holistic and individualised care of pediatric patients requiring intensive care
