Objectives

Student is able to
-explain the basic terminology of building health
-describe the quality classification of indoor air
-describe the building health and indoor air quality-related physical conditions, chemical and biological contaminants, and factors affecting them
-analysis and measurement methods used in building health and indoor air quality assessment and associated sampling
-assessment of the built environment and the quality of indoor air based on the analysis results
-key legislation related to building health and indoor air quality

Content

-the quality classification and the factors affecting the quality of indoor air
-key analysis and measurement methods and sampling
-analysis of the results

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Students are familiar with the most common concepts related to building health. The student knows the principles of indoor climate classification. The student knows the most common chemical, microbiological and physical factors related to indoor air quality. The student knows the most common methods of research and measurement used in the assessment of health and indoor air quality and the related sampling.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student is able to explain the most common concepts related to building health. The student is familiar with the quality classification of the indoor climate and understands how the legislation regulates indoor air quality. The student is able to describe the chemical, microbiological and physical factors related to indoor air quality and their effects. The student is able to describe the key sampling and measurement methods used in the assessment of health and indoor air quality and related sampling, and understand the sources of error related to sampling and analysis methods.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to explain the concepts related to building health and the classification of the indoor climate and is familiar with the relevant legislation. The student is able to explain the chemical, microbiological and physical factors related to indoor air quality and understand how they affect building health as a whole.
The student is able to explain the key research and measurement methods used in the assessment of health and indoor air quality and related sampling, is able to evaluate the quality factors of the samples and analyzes and the results obtained on the basis of literature and guidelines.
