Objectives

The students know the basics of human behaviour, management and occupational psychology. They are able to manage people, processes and projects in a motivating manner. The students are able to take part in project work and recognise the basics of enterprise resource planning systems.
The students know how to found a project organisation and the responsibilities of its different members. They recognise the role of the project manager as a leader and liable person. The students are able to draw up a project plan and budget, know how to keep track of resources financially and realise the importance of scheduling in order to successfully complete the work.
The students realise the significance of risk management and are able to react to change.
The students have a general overview on different contract practices, especially in the building construction field.

Content

Basics and challenges of managerial work, personal leadership qualities and their development. Recruiting.
Founding and tasks of a project organisation, creating and monitoring a project plan, phasing a project, project scheduling, resource planning and management, cost management and optimisation, managing risks and change.
Contracts and the most significant documents of construction. Labour market and job condition systems, employment contract and contents. Wages and indirect labour costs, working hours, terminating employment.
Using subcontracting, rented labour and foreign labour. Standard conditions of contract and general conditions for consulting.
