Course unit code: TT-4203

General information

Credits
5 cr

Objectives

The students are able to define and agree on goals, based on recognised condition needs and using various criteria, in collaboration with the authorities. They have an overview on the heat requirements of buildings and how different heat production and distribution systems work and affect indoor air. They are able to apply the regulations and instructions governing building heating systems. The students are able to compare the energy efficiency of different heating systems. They are able to analyse the network structure of different heat exchange pipes and fluid dynamics and are able to independently dimension and select the most cost-efficient heating network, safety devices and expansion tanks, valves etc. The students recognise and are able to apply the regulations and instructions regarding the safety of a heating system.

Content

Heat requirement calculations and the need compared with the goal. Operations of a central water heating system. Regulations and instructions as the basis of planning, implementing and using heating systems, structure and dimensioning of a heating network, components of heat production and distribution, dimensioning and selecting them. Product demonstrations.
