Objectives
The objective of this module is to develop students’ skills in project management to a level which enables them to plan, implement and manage demanding development projects. Furthermore, special features of ICT projects will be dealt with. The students will become familiar with a variety of the most important techniques and tools in project management. Project manager skills are particularly in the loop during this module.
Content
Principles of project planning and project work, practices and work methods of project work, scheduling practices, the role and skills of a project manager, multiproject management and interest group work, the buyer’s and seller’s viewpoints in project deliveries, the design and implementation of a data system acquisition and implementation project, design and management of a software project, alternatives to phasing system work (life cycle models), other special characteristics and risks of ICT projects.

Educational methods: Lectures, self study/distance learning, assignments, group work, on-line studying. Active participation in the classes. Language of instruction: Finnish, materials partly in English. Assessment: With scale 1-5.
