Objectives

The core competence fields of teachers’ work are assessment competence, cultural competence, teaching and facilition competence, partnership competence and wellbeing competence. They form a framework for all competence objectives.

Teacher students
- evaluate the social purpose and meaning of education
- evaluate themselves as members of the teaching profession and implementors of education values
- use media for social impact and education in their professional field
- evaluate the effects of changes in their education or professional field on their work as teachers
- evaluate the effects of global, social and labour and education policy changes on teachers’ work and students’ studying
- justify need for new ways of studying and facilitation

Content

The course focuses on offering a viewpoint on what social changes mean in professional teachers’ work.

What abilities do students need as future professionals?
What expertise is needed in the field of education in the future?
What is anticipatory thinking and approach in teachers’ work?
How can working life changes be seen in educational institutions’ operating culture and organisation of teaching?

What is renewing teacherhood and how do teachers consider it in their teaching?
