Objectives

The core competence fields of teachers’ work are assessment competence, cultural competence, teaching and facilitation competence, partnership competence and wellbeing competence. They form a framework for all competence objectives.

Teacher students
- identify and evaluate practices related to flexibility of studies
- evaluate the curriculum, degree structure and objective setting
- justify the role of supervision in working with students
- prevent students’ exclusion and promote educational institutions’ inclusive practices
- support students’ individuality in studies and give career guidance depending on the student’s situation
- can individualise and develop their teaching flexibly by eg learning by working.

Content

The course includes a multiviewpoint introduction to significance of human world of experience in planning flexible study paths and facitation of learning.

How do teachers consider students’ individuality and different ways of orientation to learning and studying?
How do teachers supervise diverse students in need of special support?
What competence do flexible planning and implementation of studies call for from teachers and other staff?
How do curricula and qualification requirements direct and define individual choices in teachers’ and students’ work?
How do educational institutions take into consideration students of different ages and with diverse cultural backgrounds?
What tools do teachers have for career guidance?
How do teachers personalise students’ studies for example through credit transfer and learning by working? How do teachers identify students’ competence?
