Design Control in Construction ProjectsLaajuus (5 cr)
Code: 5D00FU75
Credits
5 op
Objectives
After completing the course, the student is able to evaluate the importance of managing and directing the design of a construction project and to set design goals and explain how the project is managed to achieve the goals. The student is able to explain the selection methods made at different stages of design and the cost and value effects of decisions. In addition, the student is able to deduce the importance of building life cycle and quality thinking as well as energy management. The student knows the principle solutions for design guidance when using data modeling.
Content
Economic choices and selection methods
Target price procedure and component estimate
Cost and value implications of decisions
Life cycle, energy and quality issues
Data modeling in design control
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The student is able to list the parties to a design project and knows their tasks. The student is able to prepare an objective assessment of the project and an assessment of the building component with assistance.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
The student is able to list the parties to a design project and knows their tasks. The student is able to independently prepare a project objective assessment and a building component assessment.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
In addition to the above, the student is able to use the building data model and coordinate the plans of different design parties. The student is able to critically evaluate design solutions and guide the design process in accordance with the objective assessment.
