MASTER´S DEGREE PROGRAMME IN MEDIA PRODUCTION
Qualification: Master of Culture and Arts
Extent and duration: 60 ECTS, 1,5 years

COMPETENCES DEVELOPED
The aim of the degree programme is to train producers, who have the skills required to explore the possibilities of business and to develop new ways of production and creation in the field of media. Media producers know how to manage product or service development processes. They know the strengths and roles of various distribution channels for media productions. The producers are able to build multidisciplinary professional and subcontracting networks in an international working environment. They know how to acquire information, how to manage expertise and are able to apply leadership knowledge in their work. They are able to develop their businesses and to design business in an international working environment.
The education adheres to national (NQF) and European (EQF) frameworks.

BASIC VALUES OF EDUCATION
The task of the producer is to bring together and lead various individuals and professional groups. The basis for creative and innovative work is respecting difference, multiple values and multiculturalism. An individual is an active and responsible actor, whose choices can affect cultural processes. Being a media professional includes thinking of ethical and social questions of one’s own professional ethics and media. Responsibility also includes an independent and active attitude towards studying.

TEACHING METHODS
The scope of the degree programme is 60 credits. It consists of Master’s Thesis (30 credits) and advanced professional studies (25 credits), where the focus is on media product development, leading a creative work community and media as business. The Master’s Thesis is a working-life based development project, which also includes writing a report.

The studies can be completed within 1,5 years alongside work as blended learning. The students are supported to work alongside studies by using an on-line environment and distance education forms a significant part of studies. Education and Master’s Thesis guidance are carried out in close co-operation with businesses in the media field.

Medianomin ylempään AMK-tutkintoon johtavassa koulutuksessa pohjakoulutusvaatimuksena on Medianomi (AMK) -tutkinto tai muu soveltuva korkeakoulututkinto, esimerkiksi tradenomin, kuvataiteilijan tai insinöörin tutkinto, jos hakijan työtehtävät tai täydentävät opinnot ovat painottuneet media-alalle. Hakukelpoisuuteen vaaditaan kolme vuotta työkokemusta, joka on kertynyt haussa käytettävän tutkinnon jälkeen media- alalta.
