Osaamistavoitteet
The aim of the master’s thesis is to show the student’s ability to independently plan, implement, report, and evaluate a research-oriented development project in an organization. The student recognizes and is able to apply the most common research-oriented development approaches and methods into their own development project, they understand the nature and applicability of knowledge involved, and are able to write a research-oriented expert report in English. The student is responsible for finding the development task by himself. The target organization names a contact person in the organization for the development work.
Masters thesis is a practical development work with an international connection, prepared by using scientific research methods. The writing of the final thesis is supported by seminars where you have the opportunity to report the progress of your work and to get feedback.
As an applicant, you must have a feasible plan on a Master's thesis proposal which is submitted at the time of application.

Course contents
Knowledge and research-orientation in the development work, phases of thesis work, defining the aim and drafting a plan for the thesis work, role of the knowledge base, information sourcing, research-oriented approaches and methods of development work, written reporting of the thesis in English. Supervision of the thesis process: 1) seminars ( I planning seminar, II Intermediate seminar and III Final seminar). Attendance in the seminars is obligatory. 2) Individual supervision meetings with Finnish or Finnish and Russian supervisor. The meetings will be arranged either face-to-face or on the net.
