Objectives
The student
- is able to act professionally according to patient safety and ethical principles in nursing in advanced medical- surgical nursing and palliative care circumstances in varied care facilities
- masters essential evidence based knowledge and skills of the advanced clinical nursing
- knows the most common illnesses and is able to recognise disturbances in vital functions of patients
- is able to implement knowledge in different stages of the nursing process for patients individually while taking family and health promotion into consideration in advanced clinical nursing
- is able to implement the principles of sustainability in nursing
- is able to work in multidisciplinary team
- reflects on own actions, sees the development needs and positively effects the work community.

Prerequisites
Prerequisites: participation in courses: Advanced Clinical Nursing Practice of Long- Term Patients and Orientation to Clinical Training, Advanced Clinical Nursing
Assessment criteria, pass/fail

The student
- is able to utilize evidence-based knowledge in working in long-term nursing care in various nursing environments
- knows the most common medical-surgical illnesses and is able to observe and support the patient's vital functions
- is able to safely perform the patient's fluid and medication care
- is able to guide the patient and his/her significant others
- works in accordance with ethical principles
- works professionally, in a patient-safe and family-oriented manner and in accordance with the principles of sustainable development
Fail
The student
- does not take responsibility for his/her own learning
- is unable to provide feedback on his/her own activities
- is not able to use evidence-based knowledge in working in long-term nursing care in various nursing environments
- does not know the most common medical-surgical diseases and is unable to observe and support the patient's vital functions
- does not understand guidance as part of the nursing process
- cannot act in accordance with ethical principles
- does not act professionally, in a patient-safe and family-oriented manner and in accordance with the principles of sustainable development
