Objectives

The student
- is able to quide the patient in the preoperative and postoperative stages;
- is able to take care of the surgical wound and to guide the patient in wound care;
- is able to use various wound dressings;
- is able to plan, implement and evaluate the patient's parenteral nutrition;
- knows how to apply the principles of aseptic practice and is able to promote patient safety.

Content

- guidance of movement and breathing
- treatment of both clean and infected surgical wounds
- different wound and support dressings
- parenteral nutrition

Prerequisites

30 ects of initial stage studies completed

Theory of surgical nursing, basics of intravenous fluid therapy and blood transfusion
