Objectives

This course provides students with the fundamentals of HVAC technical documentation and skills to utilize HVAC design software for the preparation of HVAC documents. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
• Read, create, update, and maintain HVAC drawings and documents created in different eras.
• Use design software as a basic tool for HVAC technical document preparation and interpretation.
• Identify HVAC equipment and solutions in the built environment and read and produce technical documents about them.
• Recognize HVAC technical design documents and symbols, and apply relevant regulations and guidelines.

• Current HVAC documentation regulations and guidelines
• Use of design software in HVAC design and contracting
• Preparation of design documents
• Investigation and documentation of existing installations

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student is able to use building services design software for creating HVAC technical documents. However, their work is tentative and imitative. The student can identify the commonly used HVAC symbols and typical HVAC technical documents.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student is proficient in using building services design software extensively for the documentation and design of typical HVAC systems. They can identify HVAC technical documents and understand their purposes.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is adept at using building services design software smoothly and comprehensively for the refined documentation and design of various HVAC systems. They apply the software independently and with initiative.
