Objectives
The student is able to
• describe the needs for heat in buildings as a whole
• describe the needs for cooling of buildings
• describe the operation of various heat and cold production systems
• apply regulations and guidelines for district heating and cooling of buildings
• describe the operation of the water heating system
• describe how the recirculation cooling system works
Content
The principles of the most common ways of producing heat and cold. Basics of heating and cooling demand calculation and energy balance. Operation of circulating heating and cooling networks. Regulations and instructions as the basis for district heating and cold design, implementation and use. Structure, components and sizing of a closed pump cycle. Heating and control systems for cooling systems. Air conditioning cooling systems, heat pumps, cooling pipe connections and control.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The student recognizes the usual components of a heating and cooling system and is able to describe the operation of a water-based cooling and heating system.
The student recognizes the building's heat and cooling needs as a whole.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
The student recognizes the usual components of a heating and cooling system and is able to describe the operation of a water-based cooling and heating system.
The student recognizes the building's heat and cooling needs as a whole.
The student is able to calculate the heating and cooling demand of a conventional building by a simple method and to design the cooling and heating equipment corresponding to the cooling and heating capacity.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student is able to describe the components of different cooling and heating systems of a building in an excellent way, forms a functional unit and demonstrates its functionality by calculation.
