Objectives

The objective of the course is to deepen knowledge on the national vaccination program, vaccinating children, and ethical issues related to vaccination.

Upon completing the study module, student will be able to
• plan, implement, and evaluate the national vaccination program.
• deepens expertise in childhood vaccinations.
• understands specific issues related to vaccination and can vaccinate clients from different groups.
• examine ethical questions related to vaccination and one's own role as a vaccinator.

• Vaccination of children.
• Vaccination of special groups.
• Ethics of vaccination

Prerequisites

The student must have completed the course Communicable Diseases and Vaccination of nursing studies

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

- The student knows how to plan, implement and evaluate the national vaccination program.
- The student is able to vaccinate children.
- The student knows the special issues of vaccination and knows the features of vaccinating clients belonging to different groups.
- The student knows the ethical issues related to vaccination.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

- The student is able to plan, implement and evaluate the national vaccination program.
- The student is able to vaccinate children and guide parents.
- The student understands the special issues of vaccination and understands the features of vaccinating clients belonging to different groups.
- The student understands the ethical issues related to vaccination and evaluates own activities as a vaccinator.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- The student is able to plan, implement and evaluate the national vaccination program individually.
- Vaccination of children and guidance of parents goes well.
- The student understands the special issues of vaccination and knows how to vaccinate clients belonging to different groups.
- The student is able to look at the ethical issues related to vaccination and her or his own activities as a vaccinator in a versatile way.
