Supervised clinical training 6 weeks
Prerequisites
At the beginning of the elective vocational studies, the student must have completed 135 credits. These should include the theoretical studies and orientation to practical training of the area which the student has chosen for the elective studies, as well as courses in anatomy and physiology. The required areas are medical and surgical nursing, mental health and substance abuse nursing, gerontological nursing and nursing in the outpatient clinic.
Participation in the courses (a) Nursing and Daily Rehabilitation in Technologically Advancing Healthcare Environments and (b) Orientation to Clinical Training: Nursing in Changing Health Care Environments 1.

The student
- acts ethically at a high standard reflecting his/her own actions and and decision-making
- has the basic knowledge of the most common illnesses that are encountered in basic health care services, and their care and pharmacotherapy
- is familiar with the care and service chains of the patients and clients he/she cares for during the clinical practical training, and is able to utilise those chains in managing and coordinating care
- is able to meet, guide and teach an individual and family in a client-oriented way and with versatile methods
- is able to utilise diversely the increasing information of a citizen about his/her own well-being or health and is able to evaluate its utilisation in care and guidance
- is able to document the client’s care visit, period and summary in a client-oriented way, utilising national structured documentation and continuity of care
- is able to utilise technologies in patient care and guide their clients in their use
