Content
- holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of outpatient nursing using evidence-based knowledge
- guidance and support for rehabilitation of the outpatient
- nurse’s reception at outpatient clinics
Prerequisites
At the beginning of the elective vocational studies, the student must have completed 135 credits. These should include the theoretical studies and orientation to practical training of the area which the student has chosen for the elective studies, as well as courses in anatomy and physiology. The required earlier studies are medical and surgical nursing.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The student
- has mastered the basics of theoretical knowledge and can identify the evidence-based knowledge in outpatient nursing care
- is able to identify and define key illnesses and related outpatient care methods
- generally manages the essentials of rehabilitative nursing
- knows the basics of pharmacotherapy and fluid therapy and can perform medication calculations in outpatient nursing
- identifies the changes in a patient’s condition in the most common illnesses
- is able to assess the patient's condition and to plan his/her care
- manages various helping and monitoring methods, but is not always able to explain his/her choices for the actions
- understands the importance of the illness in the life of the patient and his family and is generally able to support them in self-care
- takes responsibility for his/her own learning
-recognises the ethical principles of nursing
- Identifies his/her own interaction skills in nursing and in the learning environments
- recognises the importance of rehabilitative nursing and guidance in outpatient nursing
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
The student
- understands the special characteristics of nursing care in the outpatient clinic and apples evidence-based knowledge in nursing for these patients
- understands the causal relationships of illnesses and is able to interpret the patient's condition based on them
- knows how to assess the needs of the outpatient and his /her family and knows how to support them
- understands the importance of rehabilitative nursing for the outpatient and is able to guide the patient to self-care
- has mastered pharmacotherapy and fluid therapy and can perform medication calculations in outpatient nursing
- identifies changes in the outpatient's condition and is able to observe and interpret his/her symptoms
- is able to assess the need for outpatient care and is able to plan his/her care holistically
- manages the key monitoring and intervention methods and is able to explain his/her activities
- is able to support the patient and his/her family in a crisis caused by an illness
- is able to cooperate responsibly and constructively and is ready to develop his/her interaction skills in nursing
- understands and is able to apply the ethical principles of nursing
- understands the importance of guidance and encouragement in nursing
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student
- understands and is able to extensively use the knowledge base of outpatient care
- analyses the evidence-based knowledge in outpatient nursing
- has mastered pharmacotherapy and fluid therapy and can perform medication calculations in outpatient nursing
- is able to apply the nursing process for the outpatient, taking into account the individuality of the patient and his/her family
- is able to choose and use various monitoring and intervention methods in outpatient nursing, explaining his/her chosen actions
- is able to act responsibly, constructively and flexibly
- understands and is able to apply appropriately the ethical principles of nursing
- develops both his/her and the group’s interaction skills in outpatient nursing care
- is able to guide a patient and his/her family, taking into account the patient’s needs in outpatient nursing
