Objectives

The course prepares students for reading, evaluating and utilising scientific information in radiography and radiotherapy.

After completing the course, the student:
• understands the importance of evidence-based practice in healthcare
• knows evidence-based clinical guidelines in healthcare
• is able to identify, search, evaluate and utilise health care information sources

Content

• scientific literacy and source criticism
• evidence-based practice in healthcare
• key guidelines in the field of healthcare
• structured information retrieval and key databases in healthcare

Assessment criteria, pass/fail

Pass:
• can systematically search for scientific information in their field
• can read scientific information in their field and can assess the reliability of the information sought
• understands the importance of evidence-based practice in healthcare
• can identify recommendations in the field of health based on scientific evidence

Fail:
• cannot systematically search for scientific information in their field
• cannot read scientific information in their field and cannot assess the reliability of the information they seek
• does not understand the importance of evidence-based practice in healthcare
• does not recognise healthcare guidelines based on scientific evidence
