Objectives

The student is able to
- act appropriately when first aid is needed
- know the principles of first aid in cases of emergency
- know the most important principles of nursing and understand their significance in patient / client care
- learn nursing interventions
- learn the regulations concerning medical and parenteral care as well as their implementation
- take into account patient security
- act in an aseptic and safe way in the tasks of biomedical laboratory scientists

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Student is able to
- help and give first aid in emergencies and in acute situations
- identify accidents and dangerous situations
- operate with a patient carefully and aseptically in sampling and examination situations.
- describe the operation of the nursing unit

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Student is able to
- help and give first aid in emergencies and in acute situations
- identify and prevent accidents
- operate with a patient carefully and aseptically in sampling and examination situations.
- describe the operation of the nursing unit
- justify his/her actions

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student is able to
- operate and take the responsibility of first aid in emergencies and in acute situations
- identify and prevent accidents beforehand
- operate with a patient carefully and aseptically in sampling and examination situations.
- describe in detail the operation of the nursing unit
- justify and evaluate his/her actions

Further information

The course includes training in the university of applied sciences’ teaching laboratory.

The course must be completed before 1. year supervised training.
