Objectives

The goal of the advanced internship is for the student to practice performing more demanding tasks that require expert knowledge, while applying the knowledge and skills learned in the study courses.

After completing the expert training, the student:
• knows how to function as a member of a forestry work community and take care of their own well-being at work
• can utilize information and communication technology in his/her tasks
• can act as an expert or be responsible for team activities, leveraging the skills learned at TAMK in his/her role
• can establish personal professional connections and operate within networks
• is capable of analyzing their own and organizational activities, identifying areas for improvement, and reporting on them
• can apply the knowledge acquired during the courses extensively during their internship.

Content

Functioning within an organization, planning, monitoring, and reporting on one's work, practicing expert and managerial tasks, utilizing information and communication technology at work, developing professional connections in the workplace, reporting on the internship experience with a presentation at the internship seminar.

Prerequisites

An internship is considered as an expert internship only if the student has completed a minimum of 120 credits of studies included in the curriculum for forestry engineering before the internship.

Assessment criteria, pass/fail

The prerequisite for an approved performance is that the student:
- delivers the internship contract to the forestry training program's internship manager before the internship begins
- completes the number of hours of training at the workplace corresponding to the credits
-does the required training learning tasks
-delivers the required certificates at the end of the internship
In addition, the content of the training must meet the criteria required for advanced internship

Further information

Expert or supervisory positions within the forest industry sector can be accepted for expert internships.
