Objectives

After completing the course, student knows the strength and deformation properties of wood that are taken into account in the design of load-bearing structures. He knows the operation and dimensioning of conventional wooden structures for different forms of stress and knows how to make simple dimensioning of load-bearing structural parts.

Student learns to read and interpret the plans of load-bearing wooden structures. After the course, he will be able to use the information obtained from these in his design work.

Content

Material theory and strength classifications
Building components such as beams and columns
Stiffening methods for wooden buildings
Plans of load-bearing wooden structures
