Objectives

The student knows:
• the most typical processes of industrial processes and their technology
• differences and special features of process types from the point of view of automation.

The student can:
• describe what kind of initial information from process technology is needed for automation planning
• define a simple security automation system.

Content

The course introduces industrial processes from the point of view of automation. The basics of process technology, the operation of sub-processes in the most typical industrial processes and plants, and safety automation systems. Different types of processes: continuous processes and batch processes. Presentation of the special features of different industries.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student understands what typical industrial processes are like and what sub-processes they consist of. He can definitely tell what kind of initial information from process technology is needed for automation planning. He also shows that he understands what functional safety means. He has participated actively enough in the teaching of the course.

In addition to the above, student can apply what he / she has learned sufficiently well in the design of a safety-related system.
