Objectives

The goal of the course is to give the student a versatile picture of current and innovative solutions in the energy sector.

Content

The subject areas covered in the course are:
• the principles, possibilities and effects of the hydrogen economy as part of a comprehensive energy system
• Sector integration: integration of the electricity, district heating and hydrogen networks into one energy system so that the different sectors offer each other flexibility
• Synthetic inertia: the goal is to make rectifier-powered sources (wind power, solar electricity, energy storage) support the electrical grid like rotating synchronous machines
• New solutions for consumption flexibility
• New possibilities for high-temperature heat storage: combustion-free process heat and CHP production
• Small-scale nuclear power: technologies and opportunities in urban electricity and heat production.
