Objectives
The aim of this course is to plan laboratory facilities and operations.
On completion of the course, the student will
• plan laboratory purchases
• plan laboratory facilities and operations
• be aware of issues related to the use of the laboratory and its equipment
• understand the components of profitability and their importance
• plan budgeting
• pays attention to the design of laboratory ergonomics and working practices
• reports on the laboratory plan as instructed
• works fluently in a team
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The student plans the laboratory and its activities in a guided group work. The student knows the basics of laboratory maintenance. The student works as a member of a team. The student participates in group work and reporting.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
The student plans the laboratory and its activities according to the given instructions in a group. The student can describe the basics of laboratory maintenance. The student takes responsibility for the smooth running of his/her own and the group's work. Exercises are clear and complete as instructed and demonstrate good command of the subject area.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student plans the laboratory and its activities according to the instructions given, working independently and on his/her own initiative. The student will have developed a comprehensive overview of the subject. The student will be able to assess the various factors influencing the maintenance and planning of the laboratory. The student will be able to develop both his/her own and group work. The language and content of the exercises are excellent.
