Objectives

The student is able to evaluate the importance of managing and directing the design of a wooden construction project and to set design goals and explain how the project is managed to achieve the goals. The student is able to explain the selection methods made at different stages of planning and the cost and value effects of decisions. In addition, the student is able to evaluate the importance of building life cycle and quality thinking and energy management. The student is able to make principle solutions for design control using data models.

Making financial choices and using selection methods at different stages of design control.
Utilization of the target price procedure and building component assessment in the comparison of design options for wooden buildings.
Cost and value impact analysis of decisions.
Life cycle, energy and quality issues.
Data modeling in design guidance.
