Objectives

The student knows the most common structures of Finnish wood construction and their construction methods.
The student can prepare drawings of the most typical exterior wall, top and bottom base structures and detail connections by applying construction drawing instructions. Can draw up a frame diagram and structural technical general section.

Engineered wood products and wood materials used.
Typical structures and frame systems.
Related structures.
Wooden frame building types (apartment building, single-family house, terraced house, wooden apartment building, public buildings, warehouse buildings).
Physical properties of wooden structures.

The lecturer has close contact with working life in the construction industry with regard to timber structures. Possible excursion for a timber construction site.
