Objectives

After completing the course, the students will be able to work in the ICT field using English as their main language. They know what sucessful client-oriented communication involves. They are able to obtain and utilise information related to their field of expertise, and to develop their professional skills. They have a positive attitude towards learning and a good understanding of the current level of their personal language and communication skills. They are also able and willing to self-evaluate and develop these skills continuously.

1) Education, job hunting and employment: students know how to talk about their personal background, education, work experience and related activities in English.
2) Work environment and the society: the student has a good command of basic business vocabulary and an understanding of how to communicate successfully in international work environments.
3) Core terminology: the student is able to recognise and use essential ICT terminology correctly.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student can manage simple discussions and reacts to what is said to them. They are somewhat aware of different text style conventions and can write reasonably comprehensible texts in English. They are able to grasp the main contents of spoken English dealing with a familiar context. Their pronunciation of English is good enough to convey the words correctly most of the time. They are able to talk about ICT-specific subjects. They complete and submit all required course assignments.

The student is able to discuss ICT-related topics reasonably fluently, and can offer a reasonable reply to what is said to them most of the time.
