Objectives

Students have knowledge of composition techniques and is able to apply them in practice. They increase their skills and knowledge in music and are able to take advantage of that when composing. The student is able to critically evaluate ideas and their implemention and realistically plan and schedule the work as a composer.

Content

• composition exercises and compositions for small and middle-sized ensembles
• score analysis and aural perception exercises

Prerequisites

Composition 2 or similar competence.

Assessment criteria, pass/fail

The student is able to apply compositional techniques as required by the task. The compositions demonstrate knowledge of instruments and control of form. The scores are properly written.
