Osaamistavoitteet

Audio technology basics will introduce sound as a physical phenomenon, analogue and digital audio and the use of basic audio equipment in modern audio production.

The student is able to:
Understand analogue and digital audio theory.
Identify different microphones, cables and connectors.
Use a small recorder and small loudspeaker live setup.
Do basic DAW (digital audio workstation) editing.

Sisältö

Fundamental concepts of modern audio production such as analogue audio with waveforms, amplitude, frequency, phase, timbe and asdr. Digital audio is introduced with sample rate, bit depth and digital audio protocols. Microphone basics, cables and connectors are also included in the course. This course equips students with the theoretical background of both analogue and digital audio. The course will develop essential technical audio skills. DAW is also introduced.

The student shows a basic understanding of the basics of audio theory.The student knows how to interact in discussions related to the field on a basic level and how to give and receive feedback. The student participates in class, assigned work and reporting.
